The change in format will enable the game to expand its target demographic by tapping into a younger audience, particularly teens and children that are more inclined to download video games than any other media. Although Rovio Games' previous games such as Angry Birds were quite popular, it is also looking to generate interest with the new Angry Birds episodes. In Angry Birds Rio, it is hoped that this version of the original will be able to attract a new breed of gamers who are attracted by the cute characters, exciting visuals, and colorful physics-based gameplay that make up the Angry Birds experience. Rovio Games has made several television shows and several movies that have taken the world by storm. Since many of the games are based on the movie, they are designed to provide users with the ability to "translate" their skills through watching the animated characters onscreen and engaging in a number of hands-on activities such as building towers and flying through various landscapes. The primary purpose of these games is to teach players the basics of how to play the cell phone game, including placement of the bird, use of keyboard controls, and playing with real money. It is also not completely free on the net but instead offers players an option of playing games for real money that can be won within a limited time frame, or can be traded for other items or currency.
